THE СHALLENGE

Free up funds for wellness

Trueplay revolutionizes the iGaming industry by introducing technologies that improve user acquisition and retention through gamified loyalty programs. The company operates in 18 markets, ensuring that player interactions with iGaming platforms are exciting right from the start.

Yet, like many tech companies, Trueplay encountered an internal challenge of unoptimized software spending. The company operated with decentralized subscription management, where each department maintained its spreadsheet and manually tracked subscriptions.

Department heads were too occupied with their core responsibilities to research cost optimization opportunities or negotiate with vendors. This fragmented approach meant the company was overspending on software without realizing it.

While planning the budget for the upcoming year, the team recognized an opportunity to enhance their employee benefits. They wanted to launch additional wellness and mental health initiatives but needed to find a way to fund these programs without straining the company’s budget.

“I wanted to find ways to not only buy software for business needs but also get solutions to improve employee wellbeing and support our corporate benefits program,” said Yuliia.

THE SPARK

The right offer at the right time

Spendbase approached Trueplay with a compelling proposition. Their performance-based pricing model was particularly attractive—charging just 25% of the amount saved, an approach unique in the market.

After discussions with the Spendbase representative, it became clear that the company could benefit from an external advisor to guide software selections and identify saving opportunities. Internally, Trueplay lacked comprehensive market knowledge about software options.

Yuliia presented their current software ecosystem: Slack, Google Workspace, Atlassian, and a list of potential future tools including Google Gemini, Testrail, and Grammarly.

THE SOLUTION

Incredible savings in 2 weeks

The Spendbase team quickly estimated potential savings, and Yuliia selected a shortlist of services to optimize first.

“The first savings were delivered within weeks, and I was surprised by the scale,” Yuliia explained. “Who would have thought we could use Slack at 50% of its original cost and save 20% on Atlassian services? And these discounts are locked in for a full year.”

FUTURE PLANS

And this is just the beginning

In the initial optimization stage, Yuliia freed up $10,595—funds that could now be redirected to employee wellness and mental health solutions.

The Spendbase team revealed additional optimization opportunities across Yuliia’s software list, with planned optimizations for SaaS tools and AWS cloud services.

Trueplay is now considering adopting Spendbase’s comprehensive solutions for SaaS management and purchasing.

“The idea of a platform where you can manage all subscriptions and generate savings is promising,” Yuliia said. “Spendbase’s upcoming virtual card features make this concept even more exciting. Imagine being able to see usage and spending in one place and manage all software payments centrally—it would lift how we handle software purchasing and renewals to a whole new level.”
